Embracing Life In-Between

Do you ever feel like that?  Like, everything around you and in your life is in this awkward in-between moment? Sometimes it’s in big ways, and sometimes it’s in small ways, but I’m pretty sure we aren’t alone in this…right? (Someone say yes, please.)

To be honest though, I’m doing my best to embrace life in this in-between.

Home In-Between

As most of you know, we bought and closed on our home just over 2 months ago. Ambitious and dream-filled Andra pictured every wall painted, every piece of artwork hung, and every detail in it’s place by…now.  Realistic-we-have-busy-lives-and-a-budget-and-no-time Andra? Yea. It’s definitely in-between. But do you know why? It’s because sometimes, we want to spend our weekends sleeping in, watching Netflix, and enjoying each others company. Embracing the patience and time it takes to make a house a home isn’t always easy, but secretly, I’m okay with it. I’m okay with a taupe living room (just in case you are wondering…I hate taupe), if it means catching up on Dancing With the Stars together. I’m okay with a taupe kitchen (did I mention I don’t like taupe? Let’s be real, I want to paint everything this white if I could), if it means spending a weekend in Eau Claire, chasing frogs with my little cousins. I’m okay with unhung artwork, and light fixtures still in boxes, and closets to be organized…because it means that we are human, and being human is the best.

Work In-Between

As some of you may or may not know, Brent took a new job at the Hennepin Theater Trust in downtown Minneapolis.  Yes, this means he is no longer at Cities 97, which definitely comes with a little sadness, but also great excitement for what’s to come.  We’ve been praying for an opportunity like this for a long time, and seeing it come to fruition is wonderful.  His first full day is, well, today, and so as you can imagine…his work life is a little in-between right now.  Trying to figure out his new role, meeting new co-workers, learning a new schedule (no more 4:30 am wake-ups calls!) – well, it’s always an adventure.  But we are embracing full-time work. Embracing having breakfast together in the mornings. Embracing staying up past our normal bedtime. We are so thankful for this new and fun adventure in our marriage!

So hey, if life is in an awkward in-between for you, know you’re not alone.

Yes we have those in-between moments. But you are choosing the best. Being together learning about each other and being with your family. The walls and pictures will still be there tomorrow. You might not always have that time available so take advantage of now.

That is exactly right! It’s a funny season of life, but I always love choosing time with one another over the little things!

This is exactly the pick me up, reassurance that I needed! So beautifully written!
